A study done at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania has found that popcorn, along with other popular breakfast cereals, contain large amounts of polyphenol, an antioxidant believed to lower the risk of cancer and other diseases.

Polyphenols have long been known to be present in fruits, vegetables and other foods, but until now researchers had no idea they were in popcorn and other whole grain, commercial cereals including Raisin Bran.

But, as with any food, make sure you enjoy in moderation.  Skip the heavily buttered and most cheese coated popcorn, but most importantly read the labels before consuming.  Amercian’s Best Butter Popcorn is a tasty option and  only has 40 calories for a two cup serving and 1gram of fat (0 saturated).  Enjoy!
