As if you need another reason to lose the excess flab around your waist, studies are now showing that losing fat, particularly the fat around your abs, can boost your immune system. Losing a little stomach fat also reduces the chances of cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance and diabetes.
If you have a little extra fat around the midsection there is some good news, however. Losing as little as 10 pounds could put your immune system back in working order. But before you start doing a thousand crunches a day to lose the belly fat, realize that spot reducing fat anywhere on the body is impossible and that you need to lower your overall body fat percentage in order to lose the stomach.
To lower your body fat percentage and lose the spare tire around your waist you need to create a calorie deficit, either through consuming less calories, burning more calories through exercise – or preferably both.
