If you were to eat three meals a day at 400 calories each and two 100 calorie snacks between meals you would only be consuming 1400 cals a day, which is optimal for many to lose weight.  In fact, doctors and nutritionists alike don&#039;t recommend going below 1200 cals in a day for health reasons.</description>
